Dialysis Services at St. Luke's Quakertown Hospital

Quakertown, PA (11/28/08) - The Dialysis Clinic at St. Luke's Quakertown Hospital offers 12 comfortably and privately spaced patient stations. Each patient has his/her own television and fully reclinable chair. Linens, pillows and extra blankets are available.

Dialysis patients hospitalized at St. Luke's Quakertown Hospital are treated in the dialysis clinic or on the Med-Surg/ICU units from 6 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Saturday. Patient beds are accommodated in the unit for acute treatments.

A nephrologist or nurse practitioner from Eastern PA Nephrology Associates sees patients at least weekly in the clinic.

Monthly and bi-monthly labs are drawn and closely monitored by our nurses and nurse practitioner.

Entire nursing staff is ACLS certified and each nurse has at least 5 to 10 years of dialysis experience in both acute and chronic settings.

Our social worker has an extensive renal background and experience in dealing with the dialysis patient's needs. She also is instrumental in arranging transportation to and from dialysis for patients that need it either from their homes or from a Skilled Nursing Facility.

Medical Nutrition Therapy and dietary services are available.

We routinely exceed clinical performance goals set up by Medicare for dialysis adequacy, anemia management and bone/mineral metabolism parameters as well as meet current End Stage Renal Disease Network 4 and US goals for vascular access.

    St. Luke's Saved My Life Fifty-three year old man went into sudden cardiac arrest and was found unconscious on the floor in the Giant Supermarket on Broad Street in Quakertown. St. Luke's Emergency Transport Services, Quakertown Police Department and Quakertown Fire Department were successful in recovering a pulse with early CPR, early defibrillation and medications.
