Dr. Raymond Durkin Named Chief of Cardiology, St. Luke's Hospital & Network

Dr. Raymond Durkin

Bethlehem, PA (4-1-2009) - Raymond A. Durkin, MD, FACC, one of the region's foremost interventional cardiologists, has been appointed Chief of Cardiology for St. Luke's Hospital & Health Network.

“We are extremely pleased to have someone of Dr. Durkin's clinical expertise and experience in this leadership role,” says Jeffrey Jahre, MD, Senior Vice President of Medical and Academic Affairs. “Dr. Durkin in not only an excellent interventionalist, he has a very strong leadership background and is highly respected in the Greater Lehigh Valley.”

Dr. Durkin has earned board certification in cardiovascular diseases and interventional cardiology, as well as internal medicine. He has been a member of St. Luke's Medical Staff since 1995. He is currently associated with Progressive Physicians Associates, Inc., in their Cardiology Division.

A native of Wilkes-Barre, he is a graduate of Hahnemann University School of Medicine and completed a residency in Internal Medicine at Lehigh Valley Hospital and a cardiovascular fellowship at The Lankenau Hospital in Wynnewood.

Dr. Durkin is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine in the College of Medicine at The Pennsylvania State University and a Clinical Professor/Preceptor in the Physician Assistant Program at DeSales University.

Dr. Durkin resides in Coopersburg with his wife and three children.
