Harleysville National Bank (HNB) Provides Gift of $15,000 to St. Luke's Quakertown Hospital

Gift part of St. Luke's Hospital & Health Network Capital Campaign - will benefit St. Luke's Women's Imaging Center

Quakertown, PA (11-28-08) - Earlier this month, Carol L. Daniels, Vice President and Branch Manager of Harleysville National Bank (HNB) in Red Hill, hosted a breakfast presentation in the Bank lobby for 30 guests. There she presented Ed Nawrocki, president, St. Luke's Quakertown Hospital, with a check for $15,000 to benefit the St. Luke's Women's Imaging Center. The gift is part of the St. Luke's Hospital & Health Network capital campaign, Committed to Caring: The Campaign for St. Luke's.

HNB partnered with St. Luke's Quakertown Hospital during Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October to raise money to support local breast cancer programs. Branch employees raised $5,000 during the month of October, $2,000 of which is slated to go toward breast cancer programs and services at St. Luke's Quakertown Hospital. HNB also worked to raise awareness of breast cancer by displaying a co-branded banner in five of their branch locations during October. The Bank also distributed fliers on behalf of the St. Luke's Breast Cancer Support Group to promote their monthly meetings. The purpose of this group is to promote physical and emotional well-being for women living with breast cancer. The members provide support, friendship and understanding with open discussions about issues and concerns. Meetings are held the 4th Tuesday of every month from 7 – 9 pm in the Taylor A Conference Room of St. Luke's Quakertown Hospital. Walk-ins welcome. For more information, call St. Luke's InfoLink toll-free at 877-610-6161.

Daniels also used the opportunity to educate guests on the new St. Luke's Upper Perkiomen Outpatient Center currently being built at Geryville Pike and Route 663 in Pennsburg. Nawrocki, Project Manager Mark Springer, and Dr. Linda Kurian of Pennsburg Family Practice described the layout and services that will be available in the new site. St. Luke's broke ground for the 22,000 square foot medical facility this past July. When complete, St. Luke's will bring additional clinical services to the Upper Perkiomen Valley in the form of walk-in laboratory testing, physical therapy, radiology, primary and specialized care.

Nawrocki expressed his gratitude for the gift from HNB. “It's this type of generous support that contributes to St. Luke's success as a non-profit organization. We are tremendously grateful for all of the support the hospital receives throughout the year from its corporate sponsors.”

Hundreds of dedicated employees and volunteers, and more than 250 physicians representing over 40 specialties provide care to more than 85,000 people annually at St. Luke's Quakertown Hospital. Most outpatient appointments are accommodated within 24-48 hours of making an appointment with results returned, in most cases, within the same timeframe. To make an appointment, call 215-538-4575.

For more information about donating to the Hospital, please contact Deborah Willey, Director of Development at St. Luke's Quakertown Hospital, at 215-538-4511.
