    Bariatric Services Named Center of Excellence St. Luke's Hospital - Allentown Campus with its Bariatric Services Program and the program's Medical Director, Clarence A. Holland, Jr., MD, FACS, have achieved designation as a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence (BSCOE) by the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) and Surgical Review Corporation (SRC).

    'Reading Rocks!' Goals met by Donegan Students More than 130 students from Donegan Elementary participating in Reading Rocks! - a joint program sponsored by St. Luke's Hospital and Lehigh University - were invited to attend the Lehigh-Lafayette men's basketball game held Saturday at Stabler Arena. The students being honored successfully met their Reading Rocks! goal for the Fall Semester.

    St. Luke's Sponsors Lehigh Valley Half Marathon The largest competitive athletic event in the Lehigh Valley region will be held this year on April 25. As it has in the past, it will attract about 4,000 runners to the streets and parks of Allentown. But this year, it will have a new name – St. Luke's Lehigh Valley Half Marathon, with St. Luke's Hospital & Health Network stepping up as the presenting sponsor.

    Third Weight Loss Surgery Option St. Luke's bariatric surgeon Clarence Holland, Jr., MD, FACS, performed the first laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy at St. Luke's Hospital-Allentown Campus on December 22, 2009. This is the third laparoscopic weight loss surgery option available through St. Luke's Bariatric Services Program for patients who are extremely, or morbidly, obese. This restrictive procedure causes weight loss by reducing the size of the stomach.
