Bethlehem, PA (11/5/2009) - St. Luke's Hospital & Health Network president and CEO, Richard A. Anderson, has been appointed to the Board of Visitors of Temple University School of Medicine.
With more than 35 years of experience in health care, Anderson joins a selective group of leaders and physicians from throughout the northeast.
"I am deeply honored to be joining this group of dedicated individuals," states Anderson. "I look forward to serving Temple University School of Medicine in this capacity and continuing St. Luke's great partnership with Temple, especially as we develop our joint medical school program."
St. Luke's recently announced its agreement with Temple University School of Medicine to provide the first and only medical school program in the Greater Lehigh Valley to combine basic science courses and clinical rotations. The Medical School of Temple University/St. Luke's Hospital & Health Network will provide the opportunity for aspiring doctors to complete the vast majority of their medical education here in Bethlehem, thus increasing the likelihood of physician retention in the Greater Lehigh Valley.
As a member of the Board of Visitors, Anderson will join alumni and friends of Temple University School of Medicine who are leaders in a variety of businesses and industries. Anderson's term will last three years.
The Board of Visitors serves as Temple University School of Medicine's strategic advisory counsel in key areas of operation and planning. Its mission is to support the School's institutional advancement in terms of research rankings, curricular innovations, finances, strategic planning and other areas.
