St. Luke's Wound Management Centers Implement "Seamless Access Care" Across Multiple Locations

The St. Luke's Wound Management Centers, with locations in Bethlehem, Coaldale and Quakertown, provide state-of-the-art treatment for chronic, non-healing wounds of a simple or complex nature. The St. Luke's team has more than 13,000 patient visits a year across its three centers. Its multidisciplinary team of professionals includes general surgeons, trauma surgeons, plastic and vascular surgeons, podiatrists, infectious disease physicians, specially trained wound care nurses, certified wound, ostomy continence nurses (CWOCN) and certified wound specialists (CWS).

St. Luke's Wound Management Centers treat the entire spectrum of non-healing wounds including venous ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, non-healing surgical wounds, pressure ulcers, traumatic injuries, minor burns and cutaneous manifestations of co-morbidities such as scleroderma, pyoderma gangrenosum, SLE and others.

According to Clinical Director, Joanne Labiak, RN, BSN, CWOCN, CWS, “We have created a best practice standard for caring for patients with complicated chronic, and difficult-to-heal wounds. Because many times our patients have multiple, concurrent conditions, they have different health care needs that require sophisticated coordination. Additionally, patients with complex wounds may require the care of a specialist focused on their unique conditions. Our team coordinates total patient care, from ancillary services such as ordering home care equipment and transportation logistics, to coordinating care with a specialist that may be located at another St. Luke's Wound Management facility.”

    St. Luke's Saved My Life Fifty-three year old man went into sudden cardiac arrest and was found unconscious on the floor in the Giant Supermarket on Broad Street in Quakertown. St. Luke's Emergency Transport Services, Quakertown Police Department and Quakertown Fire Department were successful in recovering a pulse with early CPR, early defibrillation and medications.
