St. Luke's Supports Pennsylvania Stoners in Goal to Kick Cancer
Local hospital and health network to help raise cancer awareness at July 1 minor league soccer game
Bethlehem, PA (06/25/2009) – St. Luke's Hospital & Health Network and the Lehigh Valley's minor league soccer team, Pennsylvania Stoners, will partner to raise awareness of cancer at the Stoners' home match on Wednesday July 1st at 7 pm. Representatives from St. Luke's Cancer Center will be on hand to support the Stoners goal to kick cancer. They will provide information on cancer awareness, how to stay safe in the sun and will hand out sunscreen, breast cancer shower cards and information on their clinical guarantee for robotic prostatectomies.
"At St. Luke's, we feel it is very important to be involved with local community efforts, especially those efforts which raise awareness for better overall health and prevention of disease," said Ken Szydlow, Vice President, Marketing & Public Relations, St. Luke's Hospital & Health Network. "And to partner with our local minor league soccer team, the Pennsylvania Stoners, and tie it in to a night of family fun makes it even more worthwhile."
Fred Stellato, Pennsylvania Stoners Sports Academy, says, “We are pleased to have St. Luke's on board to support our efforts on July 1. We hope the families of the Lehigh Valley come out and support this great cause while they watch our NPSL defending champs play the world's game right here in our backyard.”
A limited number of pink Stoners warm up t-shirts are available for purchase with all proceeds going to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. The Stoners will take on the Pocono Snow on their home field at Whitehall High School's soccer stadium after finishing with a tie after a well played away game. Tickets are available at the gate - adult tickets -$5, youth tickets - $3. All children 14 and younger who wear their club jersey will be admitted for free.
