St. Luke’s Trains Dentists to Provide Comprehensive Primary Care
St. Luke’s Department of Dentistry offers a comprehensive GPR Program. Three positions are available for one year of post-graduate education and training including outpatient and inpatient care. The program is accredited by the CODA.
The St. Luke’s Dental Residency Program trains dentists to provide comprehensive primary care to all patients. There is a diverse patient population that includes complex medical patients, special-needs patients and geriatric patients.
Experience is obtained across the spectrum of:
- Dentistry, including fixed and removable prosthetics
- Restorative and aesthetic dentistry
- Oral and maxillofacial surgery
- Orthodontics
- Pediatric dentistry
- Periodontics
- Endodontics
- Oral medicine
Clinical experiences include off-service rotations in anesthesiology, emergency medicine, family medicine and community health. Residents also will acquire competency in the assessment and treatment of dental and facial trauma, dental emergencies, physical diagnosis and the treatment of office emergencies, including experience performing OR cases.

Eligibility
All applicants to the St. Luke’s GPR Program must:
- Be graduates of a fully ADA accredited United States or Canadian dental school.
- Be eligible for a limited permit or license in Pennsylvania
- Secure their own student visas through the US Immigration and Naturalization Service
Applications
The GPR Program participates in the Postdoctoral Application Support Service (PASS) for resident application. The GPR Program also participates in the MATCH residency selection process.
