Research is Important Aspect of Family Medicine Training
The faculty of the St. Luke’s Family Medicine Residency program regards research as an important aspect of family medicine. All residents are encouraged to complete a research project of publication-quality during their training. Many of our residents have had their research accepted for presentation at national conferences. The patient volume and variety at St. Luke’s Family Medicine Centers affords ample opportunity for residents to consider clinical research. The close relationship with Lehigh University, Muhlenberg College, Moravian College, Lafayette College and DeSales University offers a fertile opportunity for development of research projects and several projects are presently under way in our department.
Financial and staff support is available for all research projects. The residency program will support presentation of abstracts, papers and approved exhibits at regional and national meetings. The Research Institute at St. Luke’s Hospital & Health Network ensures that each resident has full support in maximizing this scholarly activity.
