Didactic Training
Morning Report
Formal morning report is presented Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 7:15 am. This conference is facilitated by a different attending physician each morning for a variety of educational input. One morning report each month is dedicated to an OMT workshop with opportunities for residents to learn new techniques and refine traditional techniques. Time is devoted at the end of the workshop for residents to compare notes about issues and challenges they face.
Academic Day Lectures
These half-day sessions occur every Tuesday, during which new developments in the field of family practice and related disciplines are discussed. Speakers include program faculty and visiting professors. These sessions occur on a rotational basis between the Allentown and Bethlehem campuses.
Noon Conference
Twice monthly noon lectures are held by community specialists. These are open to community physicians with CME credits offered. This affords opportunities for the residents to network with practicing physicians in the community.
Combined Resident Core Lecture Series
Residents from all training programs attend these monthly conferences during which medicolegal, social, educational and profession-specific issues are reviewed. These occur the first Friday of the month at St. Luke's Hospital - Bethlehem Campus.
Family Practice Department Meeting
Every first Wednesday of the month all family practice residents attend the family practice department meeting to discuss timely issues related to patient care.
Specialty Conferences
The residents are excused from their house staff responsibilities to attend the following educational conferences:
Family Practice – Every Tuesday from 7 am to noon
Tumor Board – First Monday of every month at 7:30 am
OMT (at PCOM) – Third Friday of every month at 1 pm
