Preparing for Practice in Trauma, Surgical and Medical Critical Care

The Trauma and Critical Care Fellowship Program prepares physicians for practice in trauma, surgical and medical critical care. All fellows become certified ATLS instructors. The typical year for a trauma and critical care fellow is found below.

Electives include the following as approved by the program director:

  • Neurological critical care
  • Pediatric critical care
  • Cardiothoracic critical care
  • Transplant surgery
  • Burns
  • Nephrology
  • Toxicology

Curriculum

The curriculum is subject to minor changes.

Surgical Critical Care  3 months 
Medical Critical Care 3 months 
Neurological Critical Care  1 month 
Critical Care Elective  1 month 

Call Frequency

Fellows average one night of in-house call per week, including usually only one weekend night (Friday) per month.
