There are daily formal morning faculty rounds on all patients. Faculty rounding in the ICU are present in the units and based in offices near the ICU, and are available for discussion on a 24-hour basis.
You will receive systematic instruction in:
- Resuscitation of critically ill patients
- Advanced cardiac and trauma life support
- Clinical features and physiology of disease states that lead to acute, life-threatening illnesses
- Pharmacology of therapeutic agents used in critical care medicine
- Technical skills involved in monitoring, airway maintenance, mechanical ventilation and bronchoscopy
- Theory and practical management of invasive and noninvasive monitoring systems
- Trauma and acute critical pediatric conditions
Teaching Opportunities
The fellows are an integral part of the resident critical care and trauma teaching program. This includes teaching that takes place while running rounds as well as regularly scheduled conference presentations.
