Training in the Expert Management of Patients in the ICU
The Trauma and Critical Care Fellowship provides you with subspecialty training in the expert management of critically ill patients in the intensive care unit. Fellows become proficient in:
- Evaluation of critically ill and injured patients
- Initiation of appropriate and complete diagnostic and treatment plans
- Development and implementation of patient care plans
- Providing leadership
The trauma experience is unparalleled. The Fellow has full responsibility as trauma team leader, gaining a broad range of experience in the management of blunt and penetrating trauma, along with emphasis on trauma team organization, resuscitation, diagnostics and therapeutics.
This multidisciplinary trauma and critical care training program is open to and actively seeking individuals who have completed a three- or four-year residency program in emergency medicine and are ABEM/ AOBEM eligible or certified. Since formal certification in critical care is not currently available to US emergency medicine trained fellows, a flexible program has been designed to meet the needs of the individual fellow. Graduates of the fellowship will be eligible to apply to the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine to sit for the certification examination leading to the European Diploma in Intensive Care.

Two fellowship positions which commence on July 1 are available each year.
