St. Luke’s Health Center - Union Station: Internal Medicine, Surgery and Specialty Care
The St. Luke’s Health Center at Union Station provides high-quality, cost-effective primary care for patients 18 years and over and selected specialty services for patients 13 years and older. Our team of health care providers includes medical, surgical and podiatry residents, medical and surgical subspecialists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, registered nurses, dieticians and social workers.
Primary Care Services include:
- Health screening
- Preventive care
- Care for acute illnesses and minor problems
- Care of chronic illnesses
- Physical examinations, including gynecological exams and Pap smears
- Patient education
- Immunizations, including those for foreign travel
St. Luke’s Health Center - Union Station also offers a specialty services, including: cardiology, colon/rectal, dermatology, ear, nose and throat, endocrinology, gastroenterology, HIV/AIDS, neurology, orthopedic, physical medicine/rehabilitation, podiatry, pulmonary, rheumatology, general surgery, travel/immunization, urology and vascular.
St. Luke’s Health Center - Union Station is open Monday through Friday from 8 am until 4:30 pm. Patients are seen by appointment only. We accept Medicare, Medicaid, Medicaid HMO and certain qualified patients without health insurance. We do not accept patients with private insurance or nonparticipating HMO/PPO plans. St. Luke's Physical Therapy centers are located at multiple sites throughout the region and offer outpatient services to help patients restore functional and cognitive abilities. Physical therapy services at Union Station are provided with individualized evaluation and care. Working as a team, the patient, physician and physical therapist design and implement a personal program of therapy. Progress is carefully monitored and mid-course adjustments are made as the patient's needs and abilities change.
Services are available for a variety of injuries and conditions, including:

Interesting Facts from the Past
- From its start, the building has had a central mission of serving people and the community.
- St. Luke's Union Station, located on the southern banks of the Lehigh River, was built in 1745 by the Moravians and was the Crown Inn, a public house for visitors who traveled by ferry to Bethlehem, a closed religious community. Visitors included Benjamin Franklin and George Washington.
- The building was used as farmhouse after 1794 and was dismantled in 1857.
- A wooden train station was built in 1859 and used jointly by the Lehigh Valley and North Penn railroads, then demolished in 1924, when the current building was constructed to welcome immigrant workers, travelers and students to Bethlehem's South Side. Lehigh Valley Railroad ceases operations in 1960, and Reading Railroad ends its last passenger service at Union Station in 1978.
- The building sat vacant for 25 years after Union Station closed.
- In 2002, Ashley Development Corporation purchases the building and works with St. Luke's Network to refurbish the 24,882 square foot building and transformed it into St. Luke's Union Station to provide outpatient services. The building opened in 2003. St. Luke's purchased the property in March 2008.
