New Knees and a New Life!
Back in 2003, Bob Leavesley learned that the cartilage in both of his knees was in terrible shape. He recalls, “My X-rays showed bone on bone, and my physicians at Quakertown Orthopedic Associates tried anti-inflammatory medication, activity modification and injections.” Since Bob is a robust, energetic man and a high-demand patient in terms of what he expects from his knees, the conservative treatment wasn't allowing him to do the things he wanted to do. Bob says, "I couldn't even bend down to pick up a quarter. Finally, I realized I had to do something about it.”
Within two weeks of getting both knees replaced, Bob was up and about again. “I was walking, assisted with a cane — no crutches, no walker,” says Bob. “When you come to St. Luke's Quakertown Hospital, the care you receive is very personalized. You're not just a number; the physicians, nurses and staff treat you like an individual. I wanted both of my knees replaced at the same time, and they listened to me. Everybody was so caring, and I got my life back.”
As you begin to make your to-do list this holiday season, please consider a gift to St. Luke's Quakertown Hospital's new Bone and Joint Institute where people like Bob will have access to more than 20 clinicians who specialize in bone and joint conditions — all in one convenient location.
