Adult Volunteer Opportunites at St. Luke’s Hospital – Bethlehem Campus
The following list represents volunteer opportunities for adults at St. Luke's Hospital - Bethlehem Campus. All shifts for each volunteer opportunity are approximately three to four hours per visit as indicated. Special assignment requests will be honored when possible.

Ambulatory Surgical Center – Discharges patients, provides beverage and toast for patients, restocks supplies, collates material for documentation of patient information. Mon. - Fri., 9 am to 12 pm, 12 to 4 pm, 4 to 7 pm.
Clerical/Secretarial Support – Provides clerical support to the requesting departments. May include filing, data entry, collating, mailings, pulling charts and copying. Mon. - Fri., 8 am to 12 pm, 12 to 4 pm.
Concierge Assistant – Assists staff with greeting, directing and assisting patients and visitors to their destination by wheelchair or walking. Returns items to the appropriate department. Delivers items to patients from gift Shop or Cafeteria. Must be fit and very customer friendly. Mon. – Fri., 8 am – 11 am, 11 am – 2 pm, 1 pm – 4 pm.
Floats – Reports to the Volunteer office to be placed as needed. Areas may consist of Pharmacy, Ambulatory Surgical Center, Volunteer Escort Service or clerical support. Mon. - Fri., 8 am to noon, 12 to 4 pm.
Gift Cart Attendant – Visits patient rooms with gift cart stocked with gift shop items for their convenience. Requires two people to push the cart and sell items. Must have customer service skills. Daily morning or afternoon.
Gift Shop Assistant – Greets customers and completes sales, helps with daily upkeep of the shop. Must have customer service skills. Mon. - Sun., 9 am to 1 pm, 1 to 4:30 pm, 4:30 to 8 pm.
Mailroom Assistant – Sorts, alphabetizes and assists with incoming patient mail and outgoing mail. Mon. - Fri., 8 am to 12 pm, 12 to 4 pm.
Nurse Assistant – Assists staff in all aspects of non-clinical patient care. This may include restocking supplies, providing water, blankets and patient gowns and socialization activities with patients. Requires customer service skills and physical stamina. Department training required. Daily day or evening.
OR Surgical Receptionist – Acts as liaison between the surgical staff and waiting families/friends by obtaining information on patient's status, directing visitors and supporting the families and surgical team. Mon. - Fri., 8 to 12 pm, 12 to 4 pm and 4 to 7 pm.
Radiology Receptionist – Greets and directs patients arriving for Radiology appointments, verifies appointments, conducts surveys, handles interdepartmental paper work, keeps waiting room neat and orderly. Mon. – Friday, 7:30 am – 11:30 am, 11:30 am – 3:30 pm.
Pastoral Care Receptionist – Assists clergy in obtaining information on members of their congregation who are hospitalized. Greets and directs clergy and lay visitors. Maintains Pastoral Care policy via computer system. Mon. - Fri., 9 am to 1 pm, 1 to 4 pm.
Patient Access Center – Delivers medical records and other materials to nursing units, prepare trauma packets and filing. Mon. - Sat., 8 am to 12 pm, 12 to 4 pm, 4 to 7 pm.
Patient Information Center Receptionists – Assists staff with telephone inquiries, directs patients/visitors and logs in flowers. Customer Service, computer and telephone skills required. 9 am to 12 pm, 1 to 4 pm, 5 to 8 pm.
Pharmacy Assistant – Organize and send stat patient medications to nursing floors. Checks inventory for out-dated items, restocks inventory and replenishes floor stock medications as directed. 9 am to 1 pm, 1 to 4 pm, 4 to 7 pm.
Pre-Admission Testing – Aids staff in greeting patients arriving for Pre-admission testing. Assists in various clerical duties and running errands. Requires good communication skills and the ability to work with minimum supervision. Mon. - Fri., 8 am to 12 pm, 12 to 4 pm.
Pre-operative Holding Area – Checks OR patient packets for completeness. Assists personnel with patient transport, restocks materials and distributes memoranda and OR schedules. Must be 16. Mon. - Fri., day or evening.
Volunteer Escort – Discharges and transports low-risk patients by wheelchair. Delivers mail, flowers, medical reports, guides patients and visitors and runs errands. Serves as back-up support for various departments. Helps with workroom projects. Diverse position. Mon. - Fri., 8 am to 12 pm, 10 am to 2:30 pm, 12 to 4 pm.
Volunteer Dispatcher – Tracks calls and requests for Escort assistance and dispatches Escorts for runs. Mon. - Fri., 8 am to 12 pm, 12 to 4 pm.
